Lucy Magee was born and raised in the beautiful north of Ireland. She is deeply proud of her Irish heritage and knows that no matter where she is in the world she’ll always be an Irish girl at heart. She spent a year living in Mérida in the Yucatán and for the past 10 years she has spent the majority of her time living in California. She has an adventurous spirit and has travelled to many places the most recent of which was Hawai’i. At the beginning of 2023 Lucy lost her beloved husband suddenly which resulted in her stepping back from her art, however as with any true love she found her way back to it and is ready to take on the world once again.
Lucy loves to travel, especially to places rich in culture, bright colours and warm sunshine of course. It was on her honeymoon to Europe in 2018 where she visited Barcelona and the Amalfi Coast that her artistic style was born. It was on her honeymoon to Europe in 2018 where she visited Barcelona and the Amalfi Coast that her artistic style was born. She was so taken by Gaudí’s stained glass windows and mosaic art, and with the incredible ceramics and colours of the Amalfi Coast that she simply had to incorporate this beauty into her paintings. She has always leaned into the feminine energy of life and her paintings reflect that. Her favourite artists include Vincent Van Gogh, Vladimir Volegov and Romero Britto.

Once complete Lucy will use acrylic or gold paint to lay down the lines of the mosaic, this will then be varnished with a high gloss to ensure they stay in place and to catch the light. Lucy then uses her extremely rare daubing technique of painting which allows her to blend colours together seamlessly whilst also producing a textured effect making it all the more unique.
