So how is a Magical Mosaic made??

Imagination

I am very fortunate that I have a constant supply of magical images floating around inside my head at any given moment.. the issue that I have is having the time to create all of them!  So the images that I am drawn to most I do a little sketch of these and keep them in my image bank until the time I am ready to create my next painting.

The Process..

I like to begin with a little colour composition of what I would like my painting to look like; a small 5" by 7" is usually enough.  Once I am happy with the colours, the story and the overall balance of the painting I set to work on my canvas.  First I sketch with a pencil and once the drawing is complete I add the paint!

I like to play with different colours as lights and shadows.. I feel it makes for a more interesting painting.  I also pay attention to the complimentary nature of colours and the feelings that they evoke.

Colours are extremely important in our lives; they have the power to make us feel every single emotion!

A Labour of Love

A painting can take me as little as 1 week to complete or in the case of some of my previous large Magical Mosaics even several months!  As an artist my style is always evolving, but I do stick to my core concepts,; for example, my colour palette is always joyful and ethereal, and the overall look of my paintings has an elegance to it and a feminine, whimsical flow.

Lately I have been incorporating gold mosaic line work to the finished painting and I am enjoying this process and excited to see where it leads me.

You may have also noticed that I created a dinnerware collection and this was born of a passion that I have for nutrition (I am a qualified Nutritional Therapist) and I wanted to find a way to combine my passion for healthy food with my love and talent for art.  I feel that my dinnerware injects an energy of love into the food and therefore into the person eating the food.. plus ofcourse it makes the table look magical!
